About
Emily Helms, from Caddo Mills, Texas is a BFA graduate from the University of Texas at Tyler. She works with oil paints, relief printing, and mixed medias to create bathroom scenes. In doing so, she is analyzing the place in which one analyzes themselves and exposing the place where there is an expectation of privacy. The imagery Emily uses reflects the impact religion, media, and memories have on someone. Her goal is for the viewer to examine what the imagery might mean for themselves should they find such a scene in their own bathroom.
When not focusing on her academics, Emily enjoys spending time with her dog, and going to local coffee shops. She currently works in the art framing industry and continues to create work independently.
